Cargo Slide™

Larry, the CargoSlide inventor

The Cargo Slide™ makes it easy to load and unload your truck. Save your back and your dignity. No bending reaching or climbing required.

The model CSV fits All full size domestic and import pick up trucks with a bed length of 63″ to 67″, this includes Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram, Ford F150, GMC Sierra, Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra, Cadillac Escalade EXT and Chevrolet Avalanche.

The idea for the Cargo Slide™ came about in 2001 while I was recovering from injuries I received in a car accident.  As a result of the accident I had two vertebrae in my neck fused and other back and joint injuries that limited my range of motion. I replaced the Jeep totaled in the accident with a then new Chevy Avalanche.   The Avalanche had a tailgate to reach over and the most incredibly sticky cargo mat that made sliding any thing into the bed virtually impossible.  That mat became my enemy.

Some months before the accident I had taken up Golf, afterwards,  I decided to make Golf part of my rehabilitation, if you’re a golfer you understand.  Loading my clubs into the Avalanche took more effort than a round of Golf.  The problem was the stretching reaching and pushing to get the clubs past the tailgate onto the mat and in far enough that I could close the tailgate.  There had to be a better way.  I’m a general contractor so I knew I could find or build something that would solve the problem.  I found several products that looked like they might work.  Each had a problem, most of them were expensive and all of them were too high.  They raised the load floor to the point that I couldn’t put anything higher than 12” into the bed without removing the bed cover.  I carry more than golf clubs in the truck so they wouldn’t work.

I got out my catalogs and ordered a variety of rails and brackets and ball and roller bearing cars and using MDO plywood built a slide that was about 3” high it essentially was a raised floor the same size as the bed floor that slid out over the tailgate so the intended load could be placed on the bed floor extension with no reaching or stretching and then slid into the bed. I applied for and was issued a patent on this Vehicle sliding floor extension and cargo brace.  US 6,503,036 on January 7, 2003.  While this version of the Cargo Slide™ worked very well there were a couple of problems it was expensive to make we used all stainless steel guides rails and tracks and there were lots of parts.  It required precision assembly the tolerances were tight.  It didn’t like dirt especially when it was mixed with concrete dust or mortar mix.  As I said I carry more than golf clubs.  I also installed the Cargo Slide™ in some of my work trucks that had open beds and carry a variety of materials.

So US 6,976,720 B1 was born on December 20, 2005. The revisions to the original design are extensive there are two moving parts and no bearings no rails and nowhere for that nasty dirt and mortar mix to accumulate.  The mechanism is self cleaning, the materials are UV protected, chemical and rot resistant the original has been in my Avalanche 4 years and I have others in open trucks for 3 years all still work.  We have shipped units to almost every state.  The Cargo Slide™ is made in the United States of more than 90% recycled materials.  It will accommodate a comfortable working load of 400 pounds.  We offer a satisfaction guarantee.  We presently ship one model that fits The Chevy Avalanche Cadillac Escalade EXT and all quad cab pickups with a 5 foot bed.

Try it. You’ll like it!
